Hi there!
I’m Kate Fairley and I created Macedon Ranges Insurance to provide quality advice with the high level of customer service that you expect when choosing local for insurance in the Macedon Ranges.
I’ve been living and working in the region since 2015, and I feel very privileged to have built a thriving business around our busy family, while supporting other women to develop their careers in such a beautiful part of the world.

Industry Experience Back in 2008 I landed at an insurance brokerage in my search for an "office job" and I haven't looked back, it's been an incredibly rewarding career that continues to evolve as the years go on.
Why do you love insurance? The amount of learning required, things are always shifting and changing, and clients are always wanting to do new and exciting things, I love the challenge of coming up with solutions for them.
What do you do for fun? I live on 4 acres with my partner Jason and our 4 girls so there's always something to do, it's a big busy life we've built for ourselves. I really enjoy weight training in my outdoor gym, and this year I've taken up skipping which helps balance out all the hours spent at the desk!

Why do you love insurance?
Insurance is such an interesting industry with so much to learn and all the ways you can grow your career. I love insurance broking because I'm passionate about helping people, and I feel this role gives me an opportunity to help clients understand their risks and give them an outcome that they feel confident in.
There are also so many opportunities for growth and I love that you are supported and encouraged to expand your knowledge without needing a giant HECS debt
Industry Experience
I started with a traineeship in 2018 and have enjoyed the gradual progression to my current role where I now look after our Hobby Farm clients alongside some of our SME clients.
What do you do for fun?
I am a mum of two beautiful girls (with a little boy on the way!) so spending time with them is my absolute favourite thing... they certainly keep me on my toes! I also love drinking coffee and going on day trips as a family.

Why do you love insurance?
Insurance is such an important and rewarding industry to be a part of because it helps people protect the things they work hard for. Having the right coverage in place provides our clients with peace of mind, so that a single bad day doesn’t undo years of hard work and effort.
My career in insurance has allowed me endless opportunities to expand my knowledge, build meaningful relationships, and to help people protect what matters most to them which is a real privilege.
Industry Experience
My career in insurance started as a receptionist in 2016 and over the last 10 years I have worked in a variety of different roles across a couple of brokerages in Ballarat.
I now support Kate and the team as Broking Support Manager, a role that has a good balance of variety and is very rewarding, along with being flexible around my family.
I’m very excited about my role and to be working alongside Kate and the team is a dream come true for me!
What do you do for fun?
Together with my husband, our 2 girls and 2 dogs, we enjoy taking our caravan and boat out as much as we can! I love making endless beautiful memories with them.
I also dabble in photography and enjoy a good documentary!
Meet Alex Taylor

Why do you love insurance?
I love a challenge! Every individual programme is custom, as each person and each business is different, and I love finding an insurance solution to fit! It's also been a career that has allowed me to work right across Australia from North Queensland in sugar cane country to where I am now in regional Victoria.
Industry Experience
I found a job as a trainee in 2010 after graduating high school while waiting for University to start, and the industry hasn't been able to shake me ever since!
What do you do for fun?
Busy, busy, busy! Outdoor life for us! I work part time around our business, Lal Lal Wholesale Nursery where we specialise in growing Australian natives so I spend a lot of time planting!
I'm also a mum of two boys so we do a lot of kids sport, going to the beach when we can, and we often go to the lake and botanic gardens in Ballarat.

I'm currently undertaking my Tier 2 General Insurance (Insurance Broking)
Industry Experience
I started my insurance career journey in 2004 and up until now I've worked in various roles across the direct insurance space (to be honest there isn’t a department in insurance I haven’t worked in!) During my time in underwriting, I got to witness just how much insurance brokers help their clients which led me to seeking out this role with Macedon Ranges Insurance and I couldn't be happier with the move.
Why do you love insurance?
I have a passion for helping people and find it really rewarding when I get to assist clients with their claims and other insurance needs. It’s what has kept me in insurance for decades, and now as an insurance broker I get to utilise all of my skills to help clients ensure they have the right cover for their needs.
What do you do for fun?
I’m an insurance broker by day and life coach for mums by night! As you can see, I really do love helping people. When I’m not working you will see me with my camera in one hand and a book in the other, and my four boys and husband are always close by. I love spending time with my family and being at the beach as much as possible.

I'm currently undertaking my Tier 2 General Insurance (Insurance Broking)
Why do you love insurance?
I love that insurance is ultimately about people. Everyone has a different story, and I enjoy getting to know our clients, understanding what matters most to them most and helping them protect the things they've worked hard for.
What do you do for fun?
When I'm not in the office, you'll usually find me juggling family life with six kids, getting my hands dirty in the garden or tackling our ongoing owner-builder farmhouse renovation. I'm also a wedding photographer of over 13 years, a horticulturist caring for a handful of local properties and a permaculture educator at our local neighbourhood houses. At home, we also have a little micro flower farm, which keeps my love of gardening well and truly alive. Life is rarely quiet, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I'm brand new to the insurance industry, but I bring a diverse background in education, horticulture and small business.
Having worked across different industries and run my own creative businesses, I have a people-first approach, an eye for detail and a genuine love of helping others. And living on a rural property surrounded by forest and backing a flooding creek, I also understand firsthand that insurance isn't always straightforward. It's given me a real appreciation for the importance of understanding each client's individual circumstances and finding cover that's tailored to their needs.
I'm really excited to continue building my knowledge and experience alongside the team at Macedon Ranges Insurance.
Farewell Lillian Crellin
Lillian has recently left us to focus on her studies at university - we wish her all the very best!
She has an incredibly bright future ahead of her behind the scenes as an actuary.
Kate and her team always go above and beyond for us.
We have a lot of complex insurances, both business and personal and we never have to worry about our policies knowing they always have the best plan in place for us.
